Ashton Mountain Biking Old Gits !

Let's face it, Ashton MTB wouldn't exist if it wasn't for the Old Gits.  Most of them have been riding as a group since the early 1990's (no that's 1990's not 1890's), and are the original core of Ashton MTB as we know it today.

Over the years others have come and gone but despite their advancing years, the Old Gits are still going strong.  In fact, as they get older, whether due to the onset of senility, or because they just don't care anymore, their riding seems to be becoming even more adventurous.  True, they might be slowing down a bit, their tolerance of younger riders may be a bit low on occasions, and the odd injury incurred might take a bit longer to heal, but make no mistake, the Old Gits are still going strong !!

The Old Gits currently comprise of...

John Marcer  (joined 1992, founder member)
Brian Bunn  (joined 1992, founder member)
Martin Holland  (joined 1993)
Alan Bennett  (joined 1993)
Pete Woodcock  (joined 1993)
Clive Stubbs  (joined 1994)
Rob Haydon  (joined 2003)
Martin Rose  (joined 2004)
Peter Slingerland, AKA psling  (honourary member)

  Ashton MTB Team 200+  (ashtonmtb.co.uk/team200+.htm)

Once again the Old Gits have put together a team for the 2008 Mountain Mayhem 24 hour endurance event.  Team 200+ comprising of Brian (captain),  Clive, Rob and Psling has a combined age of more than 200 ! but can still crank up the pace when required.  So if you're on the track this year...   watch out for the old git breathing down your neck !

The only danger is having these old gits riding around the hills in the middle of the night, having forgotten why they were there in the first place !!

Never mind the Grim Reaper...
...watch out for the Old Git breathing down your neck !
